Using Keywords to Target the Right Niche (1A-1)

It all starts with keywords. We’re going to briefly look at why you need to perform keyword research to be successful. We’ll then move on to discuss exactly what makes a good keyword, and I’m going to share with you some solid guidelines on optimal traffic and competition profiles. You can use these guidelines to determine how much traffic should be expected for a given level of competition, and also to determine how favorable a market really is.

We’ll then move on to discuss what makes a favorable competitive profile, and we’ll close with a discussion on commercial intent, and how you can separate the tire kickers from the buyers.

Creating Your Firefox Traffic Profile

We’ll be leveraging Firefox and some free add-ons over the course of this blueprint. One tool will enable you to take advantage of my legwork so that you can easily automate some of your traffic tasks; we’ll also be using tools that will assist with form filling, keyword research, and more.

In this video, we’ll discuss creating a traffic profile in Firefox. This profile will keep all of your traffic generation efforts, add-ons, and bookmarks separate from your default browsing file so that Firefox will run optimally fast.

Step-by-Step Keyword Research with Free Tools (1A-3)

Phew! We’ve got some ground to cover in this video! We’re going to look at how to research your keywords and competition, as well as cover some critical success factors for choosing your niches.

We’ll start out with Google’s keyword tool, and I’m going to show you a trick that 9 out of 10 keyword research sources completely ignore — and this one thing can tank your entire site. I don’t mean that to scare you, but if you overlook this, you can find your “golden” niche turn into a pile of rubble (I speak from experiecne on this one!)

We’re then going to use my Keyword Dashboard tool and several Firefox plugins to help you analyze the competition and choose your keywords. The Keyword Dashboard is free for your use and will give you a visual indication of how good or bad your chances of ranking are.

Keyword research can be tedious, but it is essential. With premium tools, you can do the exact same research that we did earlier, but faster. Your results should still be the same, provided you took your time and completed the competitive profile in the previous video. Here is a demonstration of keyword research using Market Samurai, along with two other research tools.

In this video, we’re going to look at the easiest way possible to rank highly for your anchor keyword for almost no effort. Then we’ll look at the Wordpress platform and perform my standard blog install, with the 20 all-purpose plugins I use for most of my blogs. We won’t enable all of these plugins yet, but these are the plugins I use on most of my niche sites, and some of them are handy to make Wordpress do a few things you didn’t think possible!

In this video, we’re going to look at getting your blog properly optimized for traffic. Wordpress takes a lot of work out of this, but there are still several vital settings you’ll need to attend to. With the domain name selection tips in the previous video, and the optimization tips in this video, you can literally achieve first page rankings for your anchor keyword with no effort (provided the competitive profile is favorable).

We’re also going to look at a way to use two Wordpress plugins to help spread your affiliate links, increase the keyword density on your posts, and “frame” article directory content.
